Come celebrate World Snow Day and join us in enjoying ‘snow fun’ at our local SnoPark at Salmon Ridge on the Mt. Baker Highway. Members of the Nooksack Nordic Ski Club will be present from 10 – 2.
Maps of the local ski and snowshoe trails will be available. Look at and talk about different types of skis (Why would you want to ‘skate’ on skis? Why does ‘sidecut’ matter?) Put on a pair of snowshoes and try them out. Take a look at a pair of the short/wide ‘better-than-snowshoes’ (in some individuals’ opinions) Hok skis. Assuming that we have boots to fit, try a pair or two of skis (including the Hoks). Maybe get a hint or two on technique. Short tours will be lead out on the trails in the immediate vicinity.
Beginners – this is a chance to enjoy ‘winter’ close to Bellingham. Experienced people (club members and others) – this is a chance to help others become more familiar with what we enjoy about living in the Pacific Northwest. You don’t need to sign up, please come help. We can take turns staying at the table and going for a ski!
If nothing else, stop by and say hello and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and a cookie. Hope to see you there!
Yes, a Washington State SnoPark Pass is necessary to park there – but we will have them available ($40 for the season) (cash or check only, no credit cards)
