For the FIS World Snow Day on January 22nd 2012, the Best of the Alps member places have thought of something special and have invited children from SOS children’s villages for a day of snow experiences. Since there is no SOS children’s village located in Switzerland, the event was held with the Pestalozzi children’s village in Trogen.

In collaboration with the Swiss Ski- and Snowboardschool Klosters, the Madrisa Land, Bardill Sport and various other local partners, Destination Davos Klosters has organised an exciting day on Madrisa for children and their companions. After the warm up, snow sports instructors helped to improve different skills. The high spirits and beaming faces of their peers persuaded even the two „pedestrians“ to give skiing a first try. This was exactly the aim of the FIS World Snow Day: To increase children’s enthusiasm for snow sports.

Salad, spaghetti as well as a huge amount of lemonade provided the energy needed for the differential race in the afternoon. Because of fresh snow and a poor sight, the race posed a small challenge for everyone. Nevertheless, one of the racers managed to ski exactly the same time in both runs and was therefore rewarded with the gold medal and a souvenir prize.
