Seeking Himalayas organized World Snow Day 2016 near Barahan village in Himachal Pradesh.

The participants reached the event site by a short hike.

This year the weather was highly unpredictable, and winter was one of the warmest in past many years.
Therefore, unluckily, there was no snow at the planned and alternate locations, and snow tubing, skiing, snow art, snow sliding, snow craft activities could not be done.

We had a ‘Plan B’ in store for such circumstances and alternate outdoor adventure activities were organized for the kids.
- Simulation of River crossing using Rope, carabiner and pulley
- Jumaring

A game on Environmental Awareness was held, in which, in a fun way, the kids were sensitized on good and bad environmental practices.

We wrote small one line actions on paper slips and put them inside a bag. Kids were asked to randomly pick slips and read the action. Depending upon whether the action was good (recycling waste, organic manure, eating nutritious food etc ), or bad (using chemical insecticides, using polluting vehicle, waste segregation etc ) Each action had + / - points associated, indicating how many steps forward or backward the kid will move. Hence forth, the first one to reach the finish line won. As they read out the action, we implored them to think about the action and give their opinion.

Certificates were given to the participants and later on self-cooked nutritious lunch was served.
