The Canadian Ski Patrol was invovled at many resorts throughout Canada where our annual safety week was held alongside World Snow Day 2013. Helmet use was a major theme across the country with patrollers showing the children as well as their parents the proper way to fit a helmet. Ben Eoin Ski Resort Ski Patrol in Nova Scotia gave away free hot dogs to over 150 children, even though the weather did not cooperate as the temperature reached 12 degrees celcius as well as high winds. At Poley Ski Resort in New Brunswick they held scavenger hunts as well as safety displays and giveaways for the children in attendance. They were many more events across Canada with an estimated 5500 particpants. Some areas offered free ski and snowboard lessons as well as rentals for the children with a rental from an adult. We are looking forward to 2014 with a greater number of events at more resorts.
