„Aufffi! Aufn echten Berg“ – „Come to the mountain!“ – was the rallying cry on January 17th, 2016, when the DSV Leoben Wintersports Club and the Präbichl Bergbahnen ski lifts invited for the 5th FIS World Snow Day. Despite the sudden onset of winter 1,200 small and tall wintersportsmen followed this invitation and spent a wonderful day full of sports, fun and games in the powdery snow flurry. In free trial lessons children between 7 and 14 years of all skill levels improved their techniques and speed under the guidance of DSV Leoben‘s instructors. So, all of Präbichl’s slopes were dedicated to ambitious wedging, curving, carving, boarding, freeriding and touring. Factor of success: FUN – lots of fun! In addition, many games of skills and a racy mini bob contest guaranteed that everybody was warmed-up off-piste, too. DJ Philipp Sandpeck and the „Ö3-PistenBully“ rocked the slopes as well as the Kiddies Snow Party and spread ski lodge vibes amongst young and old. As a special highlight Porsche Leoben presented a beautiful white Audi Q7 – perfectly suited to the weather conditions of the day. After all the training and fun on the slopes the sportsmanship of the participants was rewarded with great prizes from generous sponsors, especially from the Sparkasse Leoben. For us, the FIS World Snow Day was a great success: mission accomplished! It was a day that familiarized children with wintersports and proved that exercising in snow is great fun and can make new friends.
