The 4th annual FIS/WSD was the best ever. Participants could do tubing, skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, and Slebogganing. The host venue for WSD2015, Arrowhead Ski Area, gave participant 50 percent of on all lift tickets. The ice skating was free of charge.
The Sleboggan Club of New England (SCNE) members/volunteers gave free Sleboggan Train rides to nearly all the 97 participants between the ages of 4-14 and their parents or guardians. Sleboggan Trains are unique as they allow the parents to ride along with their children. The older children, those large enough to use a Sleboggan themselves were given free Sleboggan lessons and allowed to operate a Sleboggan on their own.
All of the participants received free hats, souvenir bibs, and a 20% discount coupon, along with a free Olympia Sports T-Shirt.
Many thanks go out to Audi who provided SCNE with many items for its up and coming SnowKidz event. However, since the items arrived in time for WSD SCNE used the gates, markers, and pop up tent to enhance the FIS/WSD2015 event.
The WSD activities were scheduled from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. Unfortunately, it started to rain after lunch and Arrowhead had to shut down all activities around 2 p.m. More than likely many more participants would have attended the WSD activities had the weather been better.
Notwithstanding, it was a very successful WSD2015. SCNE and Arrowhead Recreation Club are already looking forward to WSD2016.
