World Snow day was celebrated in Kandkosri village near Baijnath on Sunday, 21st January 2018.

Around 40 children and teenagers from Kandkosri, Sansal, Barahan and nearby villages participated in the program with bubbling enthusiasm.
Youngest participant Kriti, was 3 years old!

The children were educated about various aspects of trekking by the means of a short trek.

Due to an abnormally deficient snowfall in Himachal Pradesh this year, the requisite snow was altogether absent in the region, and alternate activities were arranged for.

To sensitize them about climate change, a short discussion was held about the missing snow this year, abnormally dry and warm winters, and climate change. Considering the alarming changes in weather patterns, they were sensitized towards the issue. The children later planted some saplings. This was something most of them had not done earlier and they seemed to have loved it a lot.

They also collected waste that was irresponsibly scattered along their trek trail.

They were given a demo about pitching a dome tent and also tried their hands on doing it themselves.

It was a joyful day full of fun and activity based environmental learning for all !

Looking forward to more such events in future
