On Sunday, January 18, Mickey Mouse was spotted in Val di Fiemme – Italy celebrating the 2015 World Snow Day and it was simply awesome to see over 1.300 kids from all around Europe competing and having super fun on their skis. Along with Mickey, of course, who has been visiting the alpine valley amongst the Dolomites for over 30 years. The Topolino Cross Country Skiing Trophy (Trofeo Topolino Sci di Fondo) was created in 1984 by a group of local ski passionates and since then it has grown and become one of Europe’s most renowned Nordic events for children and young skiers who are given the opportunity to enjoy and attend various free activities specially designed to create something unforgettable for all.
As said, hundreds of young skiers gathered inside the famous XC stadium in Lago di Tesero and celebrated the World Snow Day on a 2-day event with competitions in classic technique, plus the Disney village with games and face-painting, the opening ceremony in Castello di Fiemme town centre with fireworks, music and a lovely parade, and a ‘Magic Show’ at a local theatre with Disney people who left everyone amazed and entertained. As always, races are an important part in the Topolino Cross Country Skiing Trophy, but what counts most of all is the celebration of snow in all its aspects, especially the funny and entertaining ones, and Val di Fiemme once again didn’t let anyone down.
See you all next year to enjoy another World Snow Day together with Mickey Mouse and all his little friends. Ciao!
