First of all many thanks to FIS and Audi for the awesome equipment we received to hold this event. We are a small ski hill and the tent, bibs and gates will be used for a long time by our local racers and Ski Patrol.
We held our World Snow Day event at Mt. Timothy on January 17, 2015. Mt. Timothy Ski Patrol and the Timberland Ski Club organized and ran the event and we all had a fabulous, sunny day.
Ski Patrol set up a display using the Snow Day tent and demonstrated to children and their families how we use First Aid Equipment. We also ran a Safety Quiz in which children had to remember three items from the Alpine Responsibility Code for a prize. This was great fun as we had stickers, candy and safety whistles (which were donated by our local Search and Rescue Group in Williams Lake). The kids were able to lay in the tobaggon and have a splint put on their leg or arm and take pictures with patrollers and friends.
The Timberland Ski Club put on a race day using the new gates and bibs from the Snow Day Kit. The kids were excited and again we had prices for first, second and third place and draws for all participants with prizes donated by local businesses from Williams Lake and 100 Mile House for this specific event.
Mt. Timothy is a small family-oriented ski hill, located in the heart of British Columbia's Cariboo range. Affordable skiing, amazing snow, no line-ups and diverse terrain make Mt Timothy the perfect mountain for any family.
This was the first World Snow Day at Mt. Timothy and the local Ski Patrol and Timberland Ski Club are looking forward to putting on another event next year with more activities and more participants.
