Sunday 22 January 2012 first ever marked by FIS (Federation of international de Ski) as World Snow day. On this special occasion world snow day team of WGFI and some other local ski club partnered with Winter Games Association of Uttarakhand & Uttar-Pradesh celebrated the First Snow Day on 22 Jan 2012 at Auli, Uttarakhand (INDIA).
Auli Ski Resort nestled at a dizzy height of 2915 mts. To 34oo mts. Auli is the world class destination for winter games for skiing events with State-of-the-art ski slopes , artificial snow making system, chair / ski lift system for ski sport and residential accommodation.
No. Of Participants :-
This global celebration of snow was attended by approx 1000 persons who included 51 participants with different age group, Ski trainee and tourist also.
Ski Competition was held as under
a. Snow Board – 08 (Including 1 Female)
b. Alpine Snr Boys – 07
c. Alpine Jnr Boys (16 – 18 yrs) – 08
d. Alpine Jnr Boys (12 – 16 yrs) – 14
e. Alpine Sub Jnr ( under 12) – 14
Total No. Participants – 51

Prize money was also given to the winners.
Events :-
Fun Skiing, Sledging, Snow Balling and many other fun activities were organised by snow team. This snow festival was also covered by media & also given wide coverage to the event. People from various state of India were very happy to see celebration of snow and all the children are looking forward for such event in future also.
In addition to the January 22 World Snow Day was the part of the international FIS campaign “Bring Children to Snow”.
