World Snow Day | 17 January 2016

Ski Federation of Pakistan (SFP) feels extremely glad to register itself to celebrate the ‘World Snow Day’ and become part of the celebrations going to be organized around the world for the purpose.

In order to commemorate the day in a befitting fashion, SFP has chalked out a comprehensive programme of week-long snow festivities that would culminate on the ‘World Snow Day’. The celebration will be arranged at Naltar (Gilgit) – the only ski resort of Pakistan – and will comprise of snow & ski-related sports activities for participants from South/South-Western part of Pakistan having no exposure to snow and those from Northern areas having sufficient encounter with the snow most part of the year. The amalgamation of the participants from two completely distinct climatic conditions and backgrounds would prove to be a unique experience of mutual learning for aspirants of both the snow-loving categories. Besides fun and sports events for younger children and ski competitions for both male and female participants, the celebrations would also cater to promote of local cuisine, traditional dresses and folk music. A separate stall would exhibit old and modern ski equipment/gear along with exciting hand-made skiing tools being used by the locals since centuries. Performance display by expert skiers of SPF would make the befitting finale of the week-long celebrations of the ‘World Snow Day’.
