Best World Snow Day Event
The first World Snow Day was held in the snowiest region in Armenia in Ashotsk on 09 January 2017. The duration of winter is 5-6 months in this region. Taking into account such favorable climate conditions skiing can become the main activity for the children in winter season in Ashotsk, the famous Cross-Country region in Armenia. The Armenian Ski Federation in collaboration with the Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture and Sport in the frameworks of FIS "Bring Children to the Snow" project has initiated "Skiing for kids" project in Armenia. The duration of the project is 3 years. The objective of the project is to promote winter sports among children particularly in Ashotsk region. As mentioned above the successful pilot phase of World Snow Day event took place in January this year. Free lessons and free equipment were provided to the 1 - 10 year-old children at the place. Ashotsk joined this global event for the first time with the aim to make it traditional. The sound results of the first event leave no doubts about becoming it traditional.
